Currently, Cassondra is the State Coordinator for Deaf/blind Services for the MS Department of Rehabilitation Services. She has an undergraduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a double Masters in Communicative Disorders and Special Education with an emphasis on dual sensory impairment. Cassondra has been a Speech Pathologist for 13 years and in the field of Deaf/blindness for 9 years. Previously she worked as the Project Coordinator for the MS Deaf/blind Project through the University of Southern Miss (USM). As an employee for the Deaf/blind Project she provided technical assistance to families and classrooms that have children (0-21 years) who have dual sensory impairments. Cassondra has had other great occupational experiences and while employed with Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind she worked as a Deaf/blind Specialist serving in a variety of roles as support service provider, job trainer, job developer, rehabilitation teacher, and advocate. Afterwards, as an administrator for a Home and Community Based Waiver Program, she supervised the day habilitation, supported employment, and prevocational programs. Other career highlights include serving on various advisory boards, founding the MS Deaf/blind Task Force and the Southern Regional Deaf/blind Task Force. She has also been involved in an overseas humanitarian effort to help children and adults who are Deaf/blind.
