Celestine Willis, M.A.

Celestine Willis is the Director of Education and Training for the Center on Capacity Building for Minorities with Disabilities Research (CCBMDR) in the Department of Human Development at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She co-developed CCBMDRs’ cultural competence training curriculum and model with Drs Fabricio Balcazar and Yolanda Suarez-Balcazar. Celestine travels around the country providing cultural competence training and consultation to Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors, Centers for Independent Living staff and Community based Organizations. She has recently trained the entire staff for Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services and Illinois Division of Rehabilitation Counselors. Celestine’s primary interest is exploring the intersection of cultural competence; race, and disability.
